“AI marketing skills”, “Claude skills for marketing”, “agent skills”: marketing teams have been hearing these words for a few months, often without a clear idea of what sits behind them. For a small B2B team, though, skills are one of the simplest ways to get an AI to work with a method instead of one prompt at a time. Here is what a skill is, the free pack of 40 skills we publish for B2B SMEs, and an honest comparison of the other marketing skill repos out there.
What is an AI marketing skill?
A skill is a folder that contains at least one SKILL.md file. The file starts with a name and a description, then gives instructions in Markdown: the steps, the rules, the expected deliverable. The folder can also hold reference files, templates or scripts.
The assistant does not read everything at once. At startup it loads only the name and description of each skill. When your request matches a description, it reads the full instructions, then any extra files it needs. So you can install dozens of skills without cluttering the conversation.
📌 Anthropic created the format for Claude in October 2025, then published it as an open standard, Agent Skills, on 18 December 2025. Its official specification is public, and the standard’s site lists dozens of compatible tools: Claude, Claude Code, Codex and ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor and Gemini CLI, among others (checked on 2 October 2026).
A marketing skill is simply a skill that carries a marketing method: writing a 90-day plan, auditing a page, drafting an email sequence, qualifying a buying signal.
Why do skills change marketing work for a small B2B team?
In a B2B SME, marketing is often the founder plus one person, sometimes part-time. A well-written prompt helps once, then gets lost in a document. A skill keeps the method: the same request produces the same kind of deliverable next week, and for the colleague sitting next to you.
Three practical differences:
- The method is written once. The steps, the traps and the deliverable format live in the folder, not in someone’s head.
- The context is given once. A good pack relies on one file describing your offer, your clients and your tone, read by every skill.
- Skills hand over to each other. The skill that finds buying signals passes on to the one that writes the opener, then to the one that follows up.
A skill does not make the AI smarter. It saves it from starting with a blank page, and saves you from explaining your business again in every conversation.
What is in our “MeetMagnet Marketing Skills” pack?
The pack holds 40 skills we wrote ourselves for B2B SMEs and their sales and marketing people: manufacturing, agencies, consulting, IT services, B2B services, SaaS. The skills are in English, the language AI assistants handle best, and the pack stays in English whatever the language of this article. They are released under the MIT license, so you can modify and share them.
One thread runs through them, our method: a buying signal gives you the right moment, an opener built on that signal gets a reply, and the reply leads to a meeting. You will find it in the prospecting skills, but also in the marketing ideas, the plan and the growth loops.
| Area | Skills | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Foundation | 1 | product-context |
| Strategy | 8 | marketing-ideas, marketing-plan, marketing-loops, marketing-psychology, customer-research, positioning, pricing, launch |
| Prospecting and signals | 6 | buying-signals, multi-source-signals, linkedin-intent-search, signal-opener, cold-email, follow-up |
| Sales | 5 | meeting-booking, sales-call-analysis, weekly-pipeline-review, competitor-battlecards, sales-enablement |
| SEO and content | 9 | seo-audit, ai-seo, geo-article, article-visuals, content-strategy, site-architecture, schema, programmatic-seo, linkedin-content |
| Copy and conversion | 5 | copywriting, copy-editing, landing-page-cro, lead-magnets, email-sequences |
| Growth | 6 | referrals, free-tools, trade-shows, co-marketing, ab-testing, analytics |
Every name starts with meetmagnet- (for example meetmagnet-marketing-plan).
Where should you start?
🎯 Run product-context first. It interviews you in a few rounds (your offer, who buys, what happened at your last three clients in the month before they called you, your proof, your tone) and writes a .meetmagnet/product-context.md file. The other 39 skills read it before they start, and mark what they do not know as TODO rather than make it up.
Then three strategy skills set the direction:
- marketing-ideas works from a bank of about 60 ideas, names your bottleneck first, then keeps only 3 to run over the next 4 to 8 weeks.
- marketing-plan builds a 90-day plan: one goal, the funnel maths worked backwards, 2 or 3 bets, a week-by-week calendar.
- marketing-loops maps the loops where the output of one cycle feeds the next (signal to meeting, client case, referral) and finds the step that leaks.
The prospecting skills: what we do every day
Signal-based prospecting is what we do every day at MeetMagnet, and it is the most detailed part of the pack. buying-signals separates moment signals (a hire, a new plant, a post about a problem) from interest signals (repeated reactions on a topic), rates them from weak to strong and writes them the way a person would say them. We cover these signals in our guide to B2B buying signals.
signal-opener then writes the first message from a real signal, in three steps: read the signal, build the opener, end with one easy question. follow-up chases with something new each time, and meeting-booking turns a reply into a meeting with two specific time slots.
Illustrative example
Signal: the sales director of a manufacturing SME comments on a post about trade shows that no longer bring in leads.
Weak opener: “Hi Mark, we help manufacturers generate more leads with our prospecting solution. Would you have 15 minutes for a quick call?”
Opener that gets a reply: “Hi Mark, you mentioned trade shows bring in fewer contacts than they used to. On your side, is it fewer visitors at the stand, or the follow-up after the show that gets stuck?”
The first one talks about the sender. The second picks up what Mark just wrote and asks a question he can answer in one line. That is exactly what the skill checks, and what we explain in our article on using AI to write prospecting messages.

Two repos have no license declared (irinabuht12-oss/marketing-skills and Cold-IQ/ColdIQ-s-GTM-Skills): without a license, reuse is not permitted by default, so ask the author before adapting their skills. Skill counts are the number of SKILL.md files, and a few repos contain duplicates.
Which one, for what?
- A general base for SaaS marketing: coreyhaines31/marketingskills.
- A structured, multichannel marketing team: aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills; for very broad coverage, kostja94/marketing-skills or OpenClaudia/openclaudia-skills.
- A full SEO audit: AgriciDaniel/claude-seo. Getting cited in AI answers: zubair-trabzada/geo-seo-claude.
- Running an SEO blog: AgriciDaniel/claude-blog or TheCraigHewitt/seomachine.
- SEO plus paid ads: nowork-studio/notfair-plugin.
- Writing LinkedIn and social posts: charlie947/social-media-skills.
- Sales, on an official base: anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins (sales plugin).
- Outbound and cold email: Cold-IQ/ColdIQ-s-GTM-Skills; tool-driven growth: gooseworks-ai/goose-skills or ericosiu/ai-marketing-skills.
- RevOps and ABM: gtmagents/gtm-agents, with little activity since April.
- Niches: appeeky/aso-skills for mobile apps, Affitor/affiliate-skills for affiliate marketing.
- A B2B SME that prospects from buying signals through to the meeting: our pack.
Nothing stops you from combining several: a general pack, an SEO pack and our prospecting pack sit together well, as long as two skills do not compete for the same description.
How do you install and use marketing skills well?
Installation takes a few minutes, with no code:
- Unzip the file. Each skill is a
meetmagnet-…folder with itsSKILL.md. - Copy the folders into your tool’s skills directory: for example
.claude/skills/in a project, or~/.claude/skills/for all your projects with Claude Code. Codex and other tools give theirs in their documentation. In the Claude app, you can upload a zipped skill in the settings. - Run product-context once, and correct the file it writes.
- Ask for the task in plain words (“prepare my marketing plan for the next 90 days”) or name the skill (“use meetmagnet-marketing-plan”).
- Review the deliverable, correct it, and update the context file when your offer or your clients change.
💡 Start with two or three skills tied to your current problem rather than all 40. If your messages get no replies, the buying-signals, signal-opener, follow-up, meeting-booking chain is enough to get going, and follows the method described in from buying signal to meeting.
When is a marketing skill useless?
A skill structures the AI’s work; it does not replace your data or your judgement. It is useless, or even misleading, in a few cases:
- Without real context. If nobody filled in the context file, the skill produces a generic deliverable. Our skills mark what they do not know as
TODOinstead of making it up, but a plan without your real numbers is still a guess. - For a quick, one-off task. Rewording a headline does not need a method: a direct question is enough.
- When the AI has to find facts. A skill does not make up market data, signals or client numbers. Check everything it states before you publish or send it.
⚠️ Read a skill before you install it, especially if it contains scripts: the assistant may run them. Our pack is text only, with no scripts.
Finally, a skill helps you write the right opener, but it does not watch your prospects. If you want the signals without hunting for them by hand, MeetMagnet spots buying signals on LinkedIn every day, suggests an opener based on each signal for you to approve, and sends it on LinkedIn and by email.

Frequently asked questions
What is a skill for an AI assistant?
A skill is a folder that contains at least one SKILL.md file: a name, a description, then instructions in Markdown. The assistant first reads only the name and description of each skill, and loads the full instructions when your request matches. Anthropic created the format, which became an open standard called Agent Skills.
Do marketing skills work with ChatGPT, or only with Claude?
The Agent Skills format is read by Claude, Claude Code, OpenAI's Codex and ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Gemini CLI and dozens of other tools listed on agentskills.io (checked on 2 October 2026). The same folder works from one tool to the next; only the place where you copy the skills changes.
Is the MeetMagnet Marketing Skills pack free?
Yes. The pack contains 40 skills in English under the MIT license: you can use, modify and share them. You leave your first name, last name and email in the form in this article, and the zip downloads straight away. The pack is text only, with no scripts.
Which skill should I start with?
Start with meetmagnet-product-context. It interviews you once about your offer, your clients, their buying signals, your proof and your tone, then writes a context file that the other 39 skills read before they start. Without it, every skill asks you the same questions again.
Do I need to code to use marketing skills?
No. A skill is a Markdown text file. You copy the folders to the right place, or upload a zipped skill in the app settings, then ask for the task in plain words. If you can read a text file, you can review or adapt a skill.
